Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB), along with the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD), the European Saudi Organization for Human Rights, CIVICUS, ALQST, Index on Censorship, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, Amnesty International, and the World Organisation Against Torture, will be co-sponsoring a side event at the 30th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The panel discussion will address the extensive use of torture and other forms of cruel and degrading punishment in the Saudi criminal justice system. In addition, the event will mark the launch of ADHRB’s new report, The Basis of Brutality, which details the extent to which Saudi Arabia has implemented recommendations made by the Committee Against Torture.
The event will be held Thursday, 17 September from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in Room XXVII, Palace Des Nations, Geneva.
