Americans for Democracy & Human Rights (ADHRB) in cooperation with PEN International (PEN) and Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) have put forth a Joint Submission to Saudi Arabia’s 3rd Universal Periodic Review (UPR). This joint submission addresses that the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia does not recognize the right to free expression, and does so by criminalizing it, specifically any critique of the government. The submission recommends that Saudi Arabia should create legislation guaranteeing the right to freedom of expression which includes the right to receive or impart information.
